Other Prototyping Processes

360 Prototyping loves a challenge. We are often faced with interesting projects that test our creativity and the limits within our industry. We are constantly evolving to meet these new challenges and really enjoy what we do. Below are just a few of our other rapid prototyping capabilities.

RTV Molding

RTV molding is a process that takes a solid part from either a rapid prototyping process such as SLA or a machined part and then a RTV silicone mold is poured around the part. Once the silicone has cured, the mold is cut open and the master part is removed. The cavity can then be filled with any number of casting resins to recreate multiple prototypes with varying properties from the same mold. For a complete list of materials available please visit our resin suppliers website at www.smooth-on.com.

Urethane Casting

Other types of partsOur urethane casting process is typically used to create rubber prototypes and involves creating a hard plastic mold using a rapid prototyping process like FDM or SLA. A pourable urethane rubber from www.smooth-on.com is then either poured or injected into the mold and allowed to cure. After the parts have cured the mold is separated and the parts are removed. There are many different mechanical properties and hardnesses available to create tough functional parts.

Machining and other Basic Finishing Services

Building prototypes takes many different tools and techniques. We do much of our basic machining in-house and work with local vendors when necessary. Many prototypes are for testing function and fit but if you need a showroom quality model we also do finishing services such as polishing and painting. Just let us know what you need and we will fill in the blanks.
